Welcome Ramadan: Setting Your Heart’s Compass with Intentions and Goals

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh!

The blessed month of Ramadan has graced us once again, a time of spiritual rejuvenation, reflection, and immense blessings. As we embark on this sacred journey, it’s crucial to start with a clear heart and a focused mind. This is where the power of Niyyah (intention) and setting meaningful goals comes into play.

The Power of Niyyah (Intention)

In Islam, actions are judged by their intentions. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Indeed, actions are by intentions, and indeed, for each person is what he intended.” (Bukhari & Muslim). Ramadan isn’t just about abstaining from food and drink; it’s about purifying our hearts and drawing closer to Allah (SWT).

Before the first dawn, take a moment to reflect. Ask yourself:

  • Why am I fasting?
  • What do I hope to achieve during this month?
  • What spiritual changes do I want to make?

Your Niyyah should be sincere and solely for the pleasure of Allah. Let your intention be the compass that guides you through this blessed month.
